Job Description - Detention Officer


Board Experience - Serving on the board since 2004, previously served as the Interim                              

President, Vice-President and Class II Board of Director.


Career Progression - Started in 1991 as D/O at the Downtown Facility. Have

experience in working the floors, 2nd floor IPU section and escort section. Part

of the first transition team assigned to the Jail-Annex in 1998. Helped trained officers

at the Annex in the Intake process and releasing process. In 2000 assigned to the

Transportation section and cross trained as a TDC transport officer, laundry officer,

mail officer, TDC inmate property and leisure library officer. 2005 till present day

reassigned to shift work at the Annex.

Job Description- Deputy Lieutenant

 

Board Experience- President elected three terms 1987-1989, 2003-2005,2006-                               

2007(resigned early) Served as vice president and several board positions through

out my career. Original member since Cleat started in El Paso in 1978 and began the

Sheriffs Officers Association.  Currently on the Cleat board as a regional director,

serve on the legal committee, and legislative committee and have served on the political

committee and the ethics committee. 

 

Career Progression- Started as a Detention Officer in 1978, Peace Officer- 1979

Detective-1980, Sergeant- 1985,  Lieutenant- 1995, Have worked in every section

within the Sheriff's Office.

Job Description - Deputy Sheriff


Board Experience -Interim Director in 2007, became the Secretary in 2009.

 

Career Progression - Started in 1990 as D/O at the Downtown Facility. Worked

the floors for 2 years, moved to IPU where I worked Records, Booking and Releasing.

Graduated the Peace Officers Academy in Sept. 1994.  Member, Team Leader and

K-9 handler for the Search and Rescue Team. Currently assigned to the Civil Section.

Board Experience - Serving on the board since 2009

Career Progression - Started in 1988 as Detention Officer at the Downtown Jail 

Facility.  I have work experience on the floors, second floor (IPU), Special Operations,

first floor.  I have worked in areas such as mail, recreation (Sun Porch), libraries

(Leisure and Law), laundry, central security, information, transporting inmates to

and from hospitals or appointments, and second floor (IPU) which I currently work, in

areas such as releasing, booking, and classification. Former member of the Special Reaction Team.

Job Description - Detention Officer 

                   

Board Experience - Began 1st term as newly elected board member in Oct. of 2010

 

Career Progression - Started in 1993 as a Detention Officer at the D/T Facility. I                                   

worked the floors for about 7 months and then started working on the 2nd floor Booking,

Records, Bonding & Releasing sections. In 1997 I transfered over to the newly open

Jail Annex, where I assist w/ the training of personal in the Intake Section. In 2002 I

was assigned to the Operation Section. I assisted w/ the transportation of inmates to

TDC, court, local appointments & ran the laundry section for 2 yrs. I am a former member

of the SPECIAL REACTION TEAM of both facilities. I am currently back on shiftwork

where I am asisting w/ the newly open Booking Section @ the Annex.

Job Description- Floor Control Officer

 

Board Experience- Board member since 2008. Was named CLEAT Region 4b cleat

member of the year in 2008, and was also named board member of the year the same year.

Career Progression- Started as detention officer at the downtown jail. Worked on the

floors for a year. Moved to IPU section. Was SRT member from 1994-1998. Was also

on the jail recruiting/job fair officer.  Worked releasing, booking, property, classification,

and records. worked at the downtown jail from 1994-1997. Moved to jail annex and was

part of the crew that took in the first inmates in December 1997. Promoted to floor control

officer in 1998. Worked as intake Cpl. at annex as well as floor control officer from 1997-

2008. Returned to downtown jail as floor control officer. Worked the floors for about six

months and returned, and am currently working the IPU section.
