 On behalf of all the brothers and sisters with the El Paso County Sheriff's Officers Association, we give our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Deputy Peter Herrera. We are grieving with you. We are standing with you. We have lost one of our own. We are honored and fortunate to have counted him among our ranks. He was an exceptional officer and an exceptional man with a great heart. He was a prime example of what it means for a person to put public service above themselves. He gave his life protecting and serving this community. That makes him a hero to us all. As we struggle to make sense of what happened and why it happened, just know that we are all standing together. Even as we mourn our loss, we will celebrate the life of our friend, our fellow officer, and our hero. We will continually update the Association on his arrangements.
